Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Co-Chairs Reps. Raúl M. Grijalva and Keith Ellison today released the following statement in reaction to the imminent closure of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations:
“For nearly a month, demonstrators in New York City have been speaking to the growing sense of unease among millions of Americans that the American Dream is slipping further out of reach.
While demonstrating peacefully against the deep inequities in our system, they have sparked a national call for accountability and opportunity.
We are hopeful that public authorities will not stand in the way of these Americans' constitutionally guaranteed right to have their voices heard at this critical time in our nation’s history.”
