Washington, D.C. – Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Congressman Mark Pocan (WI-02) and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) released the following statement on President Trump’s announcement that he directed the Pentagon to deploy an additional 1500 troops to the Middle East:
“As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we remember the countless sacrifices made by our servicemembers and their families. America owes them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. Before we send additional troops into harm’s way – heightening the risk of a dangerous military escalation with Iran – Congress must fulfill our responsibility to vote on the merits of military action and rein in reckless war posturing from the White House.”
