Washington, D.C. – Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Congressman Mark Pocan (WI-02) and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) released the following statement on the border supplemental under consideration in the U.S. House of Representatives today:

“The Progressive Caucus supports the House amended border supplemental, which includes critical accountability measures negotiated by the CPC aimed at protecting children in custody. No one –Democrat or Republican – should oppose common-sense accountability provisions that ensure children have access to basic medical care and other essentials and are not detained for long periods in unlicensed facilities.

“The Republican Senate Emergency Supplemental is entirely insufficient to protect vulnerable children in our care.”
