The Stronger Communities through Better Transit Act would create a new program to provide transit agencies federal funding to increase and improve transit service – thereby leveling the playing field for our constituents who don’t want or have access to street-clogging and smog-causing cars and light trucks. This would be accomplished by providing a new formula grant program available to all transit agencies, rural and urban, to increase service frequency so that people don’t have to wait so long for the bus or train; to provide additional hours of service so that those who don’t work 9-to-5 can still get to their jobs and home again to their loved ones; and to add new, frequent service in their communities.
