Representative Paul Tonko introduced The Scientific Integrity Act, which ensures public scientific research and reports are not influenced by political or special interests and affirms that science dictates policy. The bill creates consistent scientific integrity policies/interests that must meet minimum standards across all agencies that fund or direct public science. The bill also protects the rights of scientists and requires the appointment of a scientific integrity officer at each covered agency.
It is co-sponsored by Reps. Beyer, Bonamici, Lofgren, and Stephens.
