Representative Jan Schakowsky introduced The Part-Time Worker Bill of Rights Act ensures equitable wages, benefits, and treatment in the workplace for part-time workers by eliminating the hours of service requirement for FMLA leave, prohibiting discrimination against part-time employees including on wages, ability to accrue benefits, and eligibility for promotions, and requiring that employers offer available hours to preexisting employees before hiring new or temporary employees or contractors.
