WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) and Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) made the following statement after former FBI Director James Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee yesterday.
“Mr. Comey's testimony clearly shows that the President intended to obstruct the Russia investigation by firing Director Comey. It is also clear that the President lied about this fact in subsequent interviews and comments.”
“If we can't trust the President to allow an impartial investigation into Russia's interference in our elections, how can working families trust him to uphold their best interests? President Trump continues to tear apart every last shred of his credibility. Mr. Comey’s testimony today shows the President is mainly concerned with protecting his own ego and well-being. Trump won’t stand up to Russia, he doesn’t respect the Constitution, and fixing the issues that matter to working families is not even within his agenda.”
