Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Statement on President Obama’s Upcoming visit to Cuba

WASHINGTON– The Co-Chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and Keith Ellison (D-MN), have released the following statement on President Obama’s upcoming visit to Cuba:

“The Congressional Progressive Caucus has been working for a formal relationship and open dialogue with Cuba for many years. In December 2014, President Obama made the historic announcement that his administration would begin normalizing relations with Cuba. The President’s upcoming visit to Cuba will be a big step toward rebuilding our countries’ relationship. Reengaging with Cuba means a brighter future for the Cuban people and new economic opportunities for American workers. But President Obama can't make this happen alone - it's time for Congress to do its job and lift the trade embargo.”
