CPC Co-Chairs Reps. Ellison & Grijalva, along with Rep. Fudge to Deliver Letter and Over 300,000 Signatures to Dept. of Ed. Urging End to Social Security Benefit Garnishments for Student Debt
WASHINGTON – The co-chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Reps. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and Keith Ellison (D-MN), with Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH), will deliver a letter urging the Department of Education to use their authority to end the garnishment of Social Security benefits for student debt.
The lawmakers will be joined by organizations representing tens of millions of Americans to deliver more than 300,000 petition signatures in support of ending the garnishment of Social Security benefits for retired Americans with outstanding student debt.
