Washington, D.C. — Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Greg Casar (TX-35) released the following statement applauding the reintroduction of the College for All Act, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and CPC Chair Emerita Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07):

“Every student deserves the chance to go to the college, community college, or trade school of their choice without being buried in crippling debt. Previous generations of Americans benefited from an era where colleges offered either free or extremely affordable tuition—there is no reason we can’t provide today’s generation with the same opportunity to build wealth, start a business, or raise a family.

“But instead of creating opportunity, Republicans are pushing a catastrophic bill that would harm students everywhere, bury colleges in red tape, and threaten academic freedom—all while trying to dismantle the Department of Education. The Progressive Caucus will keep fighting for real solutions that expand affordability like the College for All Act, not gut it.”
