Rep. Pramila Jayapal introduced The Stop ICE from Kidnapping U.S. Citizens Act during the 119th Congress. This bill makes it explicitly clear that ICE has no authority to detain or deport U.S. citizens by prohibiting the use of funds to carry out immigration enforcement actions to detain a U.S. citizen or transport a U.S. citizen outside the United States.
